Human-Subject & Translational Research

Experience designing and conducting human-subject research across laboratory, clinical, and operational environments.

My work has included developing experimental protocols, selecting and integrating physiological measurement systems, designing participant tasks, collecting multimodal data, and adapting research procedures to the practical constraints of different study environments and participant populations.

I have conducted research involving healthy participants and clinical populations, including individuals with stroke, spinal cord injury, epilepsy, and paralysis. More recently, my work has extended to evaluating biomedical technologies and physiological monitoring approaches under operationally relevant conditions for human spaceflight.

A central focus of my research is translation: moving from a scientific or clinical question to a feasible experiment, determining what measurements are necessary, evaluating whether a technology provides useful information, and identifying how the resulting capability could ultimately be applied outside the laboratory.
