This study investigates whether noninvasive autonomic measurements collected using a wrist-worn sensor can help distinguish preictal from interictal periods in patients with refractory epilepsy. Heart rate, blood volume pulse, skin impedance, and skin temperature were evaluated alongside electrophysiological measurements from EEG, EMG, and intracranial EEG. The results demonstrated measurable preictal changes in autonomic variables and explored their potential utility for wearable seizure-prediction systems.
